Student Technical / Engineering Intern

Educational Background / Professional Requirements:

• Mechanical background and aptitude – must be able to work with the mind as well as the hands

• Electronic background and aptitude – the use of a voltmeter will be necessary on occasion

• Computer proficiency and expertise – We need someone who understands TCPIP and other networking protocols

• Must be able to use or learn to use hands tools – this is critical to the job

• We require a GPA of 3.0.  We will consider GPAs below this given the candidate shows promise.

• Our low GPA threshold is 2.5 unless the prospective candidate demonstrates reasonable cause for academic performance below this level. If they want to work, but need inspiration they deserve to see what they could become without the stigma of being evaluated by arbitrary instruments the are supposedly meant to measure human performance potential.   

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift heavy (50 or more lbs.) awkward objects safely without undue struggle.  May be done with minimal assistance

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

General Requirements:

• Must understand that no question is without merit

• Must understand that to successfully proceed in a new endeavor one may not know all there is to know and this is expected that they will have a learning curve

• Must be oriented to a solutions driven work paradigm – this isn’t about work it’s about solving problems and moving to solve the next problem with the full knowledge that the problem is solved and comprehensively professionally documented the their colleagues will have a clear path to success based on their provided solution

• Must be able to quickly analyze assess and take action and understand that asking for help before wasting their time is a part of professional collaboration and efficiency

• Must be able to follow checklists and order of operations with discipline and professionalism

Before internships begin the candidate must provide proof of current enrollment in an acredited community college, technical school, college or university.
